Fraternity of the Transfiguration, Religious community in Mérigny, France.
The community operates several chapels across different locations in France, with primary centers in Limoges, Poitiers, Assais-les-Jumeaux, Niort, and Angoulême. Members follow the Tridentine Mass and observe daily scheduled prayer times including Prime, Sext, Compline, and the Rosary.
Bernard Lecareux founded the community in 1970 as an independent organization centered on traditional spirituality and contemplative life. A key moment came in 1979 when two members received priestly ordination from Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre, establishing continuity for their mission.
The community honors the spiritual heritage of Vladimir Ghika, a Romanian prince whose journey from Orthodox to Roman Catholic faith shapes its inner direction. This orientation shows in how members structure their daily prayers and ceremonies.
Visitors can access the community at its various centers, each offering regular prayer times and Masses that are open to the public. It helps to check ahead about specific prayer schedules at a particular location, as these follow a traditional calendar.
The community consists of three branches: a male community, a female community, and a Third Order called familiars who continue its work in the world. This three-part structure allows people with different lifestyles to share in the same spiritual calling.
