Fontaine des Trois Grâces, Historical fountain in Place de la Comédie, Montpellier, France
The fountain displays three marble figures representing the Graces, positioned atop two superimposed basins with stone edges and water cascading down the structure.
Created by sculptor Étienne Dantoine in 1776, the fountain was initially placed in Place de la Canourgue before moving to Place de la Comédie in 1793.
The three figures symbolize Joy, Beauty, and Charm, following the classical Greek mythology representation of Aglaea, Euphrosyne, and Thalia.
The current structure features a resin reproduction of the original marble sculptures, which remains protected inside the Opera Comédie building since 1989.
Blue lighting illuminates the monument at night, creating reflections on the water surface and emphasizing the details of the sculptural composition.
