Saint-Côme hotel, Private mansion and lecture hall in central Montpellier, France.
The Saint-Côme hotel features an octagonal structure with a dome and a courtyard separating two main sections of the building.
François Gigot de Lapeyronie provided 100,000 livres in 1747 to construct this building as an amphitheater for the College of Surgery.
The building served as an anatomical demonstration center for medical students until 1794, when it merged with Montpellier's medical school.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry occupies the building, allowing visitors to explore the courtyard during regular business hours.
The octagonal amphitheater was designed as an improved version of Paris's Saint Côme amphitheater, following Lapeyronie's specific instructions.
