Grand Pinier, Mountain summit in Freissinières Valley, France
Grand Pinier is a mountain summit in the Écrins National Park located in the Hautes-Alpes region of France at 3,117 meters elevation. The peak sits within the Freissinières Valley area and forms part of a larger Alpine massif with several neighboring summits.
The peak became officially documented through cartographic records when the Écrins National Park was established in 1973. Since then it has been part of the scientific and recreational exploration of this Alpine region.
The Grand Pinier summit serves as a reference point for mountaineers who study the traditions of Alpine climbing in the French mountain ranges.
Most climbers begin from the village of Dormillouse at around 1,727 meters elevation where established routes lead upward. The route passes by natural landmarks such as Lake Palluel at approximately 2,472 meters before reaching the summit.
On clear days the summit offers expansive views across multiple surrounding peaks and valleys. The vista extends across the Freissinières Valley to distant neighboring summits including Petit Pinier and Tête de Gramuzat.
