Tour Égée, Office skyscraper in La Défense, France
Tour Égée is a 155-metre office skyscraper in La Défense with 39 floors and a triangular floor plan. Its light-coloured facade is a dense grid of small rectangular windows, with narrow vertical bands separating the columns and a recessed vertical channel dividing the broad face into a wider grid on one side and a narrower one on the other. It was designed by Michel Andrault and Nicolas Ayoub of Conceptua.
Tour Égée was built in 1999 over two years to designs by Michel Andrault and Nicolas Ayoub of the Conceptua agency, whose arrival at La Défense in the 1990s brought massive forms and light stone cladding instead of the all-glass facades of the previous generation. Its prestressed cellular floor slabs allow long internal spans and flexible office layouts. Its twin, Tour Adria, followed nearby in 2002.
The building represents modern French corporate architecture through its structural design, contributing to the evolution of contemporary workspace environments in Paris.
The building is served by multiple elevators and contains extensive office spaces for various companies. Access to the interior is typically limited to registered employees and their authorized visitors.
Tour Égée has a near-identical twin, Tour Adria, built nearby three years later in 2002. The only difference between the two is the cladding: Adria's is darker, while Égée's lighter glass creates the impression of vertical and horizontal stripes crossing at each window. The pair was designed by Michel Andrault and Nicolas Ayoub of Conceptua.
