Hôpital Saint-Jacques, Historical hospital in Nantes, France
The Saint-Jacques Hospital extends across multiple buildings on the left bank of the Loire River, offering specialized medical care and rehabilitation services.
Founded in 1834, this medical facility replaced the municipal hospice Sanitat and initially provided care for elderly individuals, orphans, and psychiatric patients.
Three notable French architects, François-Jean-Baptiste Ogée and brothers Louis-Prudent and Constant Douillard, designed the neoclassical structures of the hospital complex.
The medical center maintains 560 psychiatric beds and provides specialized departments for sports medicine, physical rehabilitation, neurological care, and geriatric treatments.
The central building contains a vaulted gallery that previously functioned as a dining hall for monks when the location housed a religious priory.
