Hôtel d'Uzès, Protected private mansion in Tonnerre, France.
The Hôtel d'Uzès is a private mansion in Tonnerre featuring classical French architecture with ionic pilasters and a triangular pediment on its southern facade. Inside, an inner courtyard is surrounded by arcades and galleries on different levels that create covered passages around the square layout.
The mansion was built between 1767 and 1773 by architect Boudon following the destruction of the old town hall in an explosion in 1763. It was part of the town's rebuilding efforts after this disaster.
The mansion features two galleries, with the upper level providing natural light through windows overlooking the ground floor arcades around the courtyard.
The facades and roofs on Rue du Sénéchal and Rue du Salin are protected historical monuments visible from the street. Since this is a private residence, the exterior can best be appreciated from the public areas around it.
A five-step perron leads to an inner courtyard surrounded by a cloister-like gallery that forms part of the mansion's square layout.
