MJC Lillebonne

MJC Lillebonne, hôtel particulier à Nancy (Meurthe-et-Moselle)

MJC Lillebonne is a private mansion from the 16th century located in Nancy, featuring a square stone structure with a slate roof and tall windows with thick frames. Inside, the building has high ceilings, thick stone walls, wooden floors showing age, and a notable spiral stone staircase with ironwork railings that rises through the upper floors.

The building was constructed in the late 1500s as a private residence for Claude de Beauvau-Craon and displays Renaissance influences in its facade details such as carved stone decorations and columns. It received official recognition as a monument historique in 1944, ensuring its protection, while it has served since 1972 as a community center for cultural and youth activities.

The mansion bears the name Lillebonne from its original connection to the de Beauvau-Craon family who built it. Today, residents and visitors use the space for cultural events and community gatherings, showing how a private residence became central to local life.

The center is easy to reach as it is located in central Nancy with good public transportation options to get there. Visitors can check the schedule online beforehand or contact the center by phone or email to learn about activities and planned events.

Inside, there is a striking spiral stone staircase equipped with carefully crafted wrought iron railings that rises to the upper floors. This staircase is a Renaissance-era example of craftsmanship and stands out as one of the most captivating features visitors encounter while exploring the building.
