Hôtel de Montalivet, Private mansion in 7th arrondissement of Paris, France.
Hôtel de Montalivet is a private mansion in the 7th arrondissement with a formal street front showing classical details like decorated windows and a distinctive entrance portal. Inside, the building contains high-ceilinged rooms and an impressive staircase that reflect the status and taste of those who once lived there.
Architect Pierre Boscry designed this residence between 1736 and 1737 for the Marquise de Feuquiere. The building underwent modifications in the 19th century and now serves as an annex to the nearby Hotel de Matignon.
The residence reflects how wealthy Parisian families arranged their homes, with tall rooms, carefully placed windows, and a layout that balanced formal display with living space. The decoration and room proportions show what Paris nobility considered a refined way of life.
The exterior can be viewed from the street, but parts of the building are not open to visitors since it is a protected structure. The entrance faces the street, and the surrounding area of the 7th arrondissement is easy to explore, especially if you want to see the neighborhood's other historic properties.
Noted decorator Nicolas Pineau worked on the interior decoration, though his original contributions are no longer visible in the building. This reflects how the home's interior has evolved and been altered over the centuries since its creation.
