Hôtel de Rohan-Guémené

The Hôtel de Rohan-Guémené is a private mansion at Place des Vosges with a symmetrical layout, two flanking wings, and a classical stone facade. The building now houses a museum displaying personal belongings, manuscripts, and period furnishings spanning multiple centuries.

The mansion was built in 1605 and changed owners multiple times before acquiring its aristocratic name in the early 17th century. In the 19th century it gained prominence as the residence of a major literary figure whose connection remains central to the building's identity.

The mansion served as home to notable figures and is now intimately tied to a celebrated author whose life and literary output visitors can explore throughout its rooms. The spaces preserve the atmosphere of the 19th century when significant writing took place within these walls.
