Matisse museum, Art museum in Le Cateau-Cambrésis, France.

The Matisse Museum occupies the Palais Fénelon, displaying more than 170 works by Henri Matisse across seventeen exhibition rooms covering 4,600 square meters.

The museum, established by Henri Matisse himself on November 8, 1952, moved from the Le Cateau City Hall to Palais Fénelon in 1982 following significant collection expansion.

The collection includes works by Auguste Herbin, Geneviève Claisse, elements from the Tériade collection, and thirty photographs from Henri Cartier-Bresson collection.

The museum operates from 10 AM to 12:30 PM and 2 PM to 6 PM on weekdays, offering guided tours in English, German, and Dutch with prior reservations.

The Palais Fénelon building transformed from a bishop refuge to a cotton mill, then a school, before becoming the third-largest collection of Matisse works in France.
