Established in 1843 through public funding initiated by pharmacist Jean-Anthyme Margueron, the garden began with 2,000 medicinal and exotic plants in its collection.
The garden serves as an educational center where students and researchers study botany, plant identification, and ecological practices through hands-on experiences.
Located at 33 Boulevard Tonnellé, the garden opens daily with free admission and contains designated areas for walking paths and picnic spots.
The garden divides into distinct sections with regular parterres along magnolia avenues, Mediterranean zones, and an English-style arboretum surrounding a pond.
