Lac de Charmes

The reservoir covers 197 hectares with a 362-meter-long dam and reaches 17 meters in height, containing three distinct basins for different activities.

The Charmes reservoir was constructed at the end of the 19th century to supply water to the canal between Champagne and Burgundy regions.

Sixty-nine bird species inhabit the area, with thirty-six protected by law and four listed in the Champagne-Ardenne red list of endangered birds.

The lake offers supervised swimming areas during summer, equipped with accessible chairs for people with reduced mobility, along with pedal boats and canoe rentals.

The European pond turtle, protected at national level, appears near the lake tail, indicating the high biodiversity of this water system.
