Maison forte de l'Izérable is a fortified house in Morancé with solid defensive features and a practical layout for both living and protection. The building has a circular tower at its northeastern corner and features mullioned windows in the southwestern quarters, with structures forming an enclosed yard.

The house began as a fortified residence in the 13th century and first appeared in documents in 1262 when its owner pledged loyalty to the Abbot of Ainay. It served noble families for centuries as both a dwelling and a point of defense in the region.

The property passed through the hands of different noble families, each leaving marks on how the building looks and functions. Visitors can observe how different generations shaped the layout and character of the structure over time.

The property sits east of Morancé village and is accessible via local roads through the countryside. It is advisable to check access conditions before visiting, as the site remains in private hands.

The original entrance bridge that crossed the moat dates from the 13th century and still stands today. It shows how medieval residents protected the house from intruders.
