The fortified structure contains eight combat blocks interconnected by underground galleries measuring less than 1000 meters with a 60 cm railway system.

Construction of this Maginot Line fortification began in 1930 under CORF supervision and became fully operational by 1935 at a cost of 65 million francs.

The garrison of 521 soldiers and 16 officers from the 167th Fortress Infantry Regiment maintained this defensive position throughout the early stages of World War II.

The underground network housed barracks, kitchens, medical facilities, and storage areas for water and food supplies at a depth of 30 meters.

The fortification features a single entrance for both ammunition and personnel transport, which differs from standard designs of other major Maginot Line structures.
