Palais Maeterlinck, Private palace on Cap de Nice, France
Palais Maeterlinck is a neo-classical palace set on a large estate on Cap de Nice with direct Mediterranean waterfront access. The building showcases Florentine architectural influences and combines original period details with contemporary residential layouts.
Belgian Nobel laureate Maurice Maeterlinck purchased this incomplete property in 1930 and transformed it into his personal residence. His acquisition marked a turning point that established the palace as a significant private estate on the Côte d'Azur.
The estate carries the name of Maurice Maeterlinck, the Belgian writer who shaped its identity in the early 20th century. Visitors today can sense this literary connection through the refined spaces and the way the building reflects his vision of elegant living.
The property is now divided into private luxury apartments and is not open for public tours. You can view the exterior architecture and surrounding grounds from the street and nearby viewpoints.
Two ornate bathrooms with massive onyx bathtubs remain preserved inside the palace, a rare testament to the opulence of that era. These lavish facilities showcase the extravagance that Maeterlinck brought to his estate when he renovated it.
