The Musée du Château des ducs de Wurtemberg is a history, natural history, art, and archaeological museum housed inside the old castle of the Dukes of Württemberg in Montbéliard. The castle was built during the Middle Ages as a fortress and residence for the Dukes of Württemberg, who governed the area for several centuries. Over time the building changed roles and now serves as a museum.
The castle sits in the centre of Montbéliard and is easy to reach on foot from the town centre. Since the building is still undergoing renovation, it is worth checking which sections are open before your visit.
In December 2024, a new tour called 'La Grande Histoire du Château' opened, offering visitors the first chance to follow the story of the castle and its dukes through modern, interactive displays. The full transformation of the building is planned for the summer of 2028.
