Palais ducal de Nevers, Renaissance castle on Loire hill in Nevers, France.

The Ducal Palace of Nevers presents a wide Renaissance facade with polygon turrets and stands on a hill above the old town center.

Built between 1467 and 1480 for Count John of Clamecy, the palace became the residence of multiple families who governed the Nivernais duchy.

The palace houses permanent exhibitions about Nevers history, including displays about Formula One racing and traditional earthenware manufacturing.

Visitors can access the underground museum section, which contains artifacts and displays explaining the evolution of Nevers through centuries.

Archaeological excavations in 1988 revealed rare 14th-century artillery fragments, including powder chamber veuglaire pieces now preserved in Nevers.
