Nevers Cathedral, Minor basilica and Catholic cathedral in Nevers, France

Nevers Cathedral blends Romanesque and Gothic architectural elements into an unusual structure. The building displays two choirs at opposite ends and a massive decorated western façade with towers.

The cathedral began as a Romanesque church in the 11th century and underwent major expansion during the Gothic period. The nave and eastern choir were largely completed in the 14th century.

The cathedral maintains regular religious services and ceremonies as the main spiritual center of the Diocese of Nevers.

The cathedral sits in central Nevers and is easily reached on foot. Visitors can explore the interior and view the various architectural details and side chapels at their own pace.

The building has a rare architectural feature: two separate choirs at completely opposite ends of the structure. This arrangement is unusual in medieval sacred architecture and reflects the complex construction history of the site.
