Orgues de Bort

Orgues de Bort consists of vertical basalt columns that rise from the ground and form a dramatic wall of dark stone. These columns stretch across a significant distance, creating a distinctive natural feature that appears especially striking from certain vantage points.

The columns formed millions of years ago when molten lava cooled slowly and contracted into a polygonal pattern. This natural process created one of the region's most distinctive geological features.

The name comes from the pipe-like appearance of the columns, which resemble organ pipes. Visitors can explore this unusual natural formation from multiple viewpoints to appreciate how locals named it based on what they saw.

A hiking path of about one hour connects the town to the columns, with clear marking and stable terrain underfoot. It is wise to wear proper footwear and bring weather protection, as portions of the route can be exposed and open.

The left section of the formation features climbing routes that are accessible year-round and offer varying difficulty levels. This makes the site interesting not only for hikers but also for climbers looking for a natural training ground.
