The Musée d'histoire naturelle et d'ethnographie de Colmar is a natural history museum in a former school building that displays taxidermied animals from the region and around the world, along with minerals, prehistoric fossils, and ethnographic objects. The collections include skeletons, insects, and geological specimens that cover the natural world and human cultures across continents.

The Société d'histoire naturelle de Colmar was founded on 22 May 1859 by figures including the physicist Adolphe Hirn, the doctors Gustave Bleicher and Charles Faudel, and the sculptor Auguste Bartholdi. Its museum opened in 1860 in rooms of the Unterlinden convent, later sharing the Dominican convent until the Second World War. Activity stopped until 1953, when volunteers led by Albert Couturier and Madeleine Jehl revived the society; after 26 years in a pavilion in the château d'eau park, the collections and their 20,000-volume library moved to the former École Turenne at 11 rue de Turenne, inaugurated on 15 October 1985.

The museum holds the only ancient Egyptian collection in Alsace, with mummies and Coptic textiles displayed alongside artifacts from China, Africa, and the Marquesas Islands that reflect how collectors documented different cultures.

The museum occupies the former École Turenne at 11 rue de Turenne, with a second entrance on the Quai de la Poissonnerie. The ground floor holds three rooms with aquariums and taxidermy; the upper floor covers Alsatian geology, an Egyptian and Coptic section and the ethnological collection. Temporary exhibitions run alongside the permanent displays.

The building at 11 rue de Turenne began as the home of a stonecutter, Steinhütte, in 1467, and later housed military authorities, the municipal chancellery, the town hall and a girls' school. The society's 20,000-volume library moved in with the collections only in 1984, and the museum was inaugurated on 15 October 1985.
