Drac Suspension Bridge

The steel suspension bridge spans 220 meters across the Drac River, connecting the communes of Mayres-Savel and Lavars with a narrow 1.2-meter walkway.

The Drac Suspension Bridge opened on August 14, 2007, introducing a new way to cross the river while providing access to mountain trails in the French Alps.

The bridge design follows engineering principles of Himalayan suspension bridges, representing a fusion of French alpine infrastructure with Asian mountain crossing techniques.

Visitors can access the bridge through marked hiking paths from both Mayres-Savel and Lavars, with regular maintenance ensuring safe passage throughout the year.

The structure stands as the principal pedestrian crossing point over the Drac River, offering views of the surrounding mountains from 220 meters above the water.
