Pointe des Buffettes

Pointe des Buffettes is a mountain summit in the Vanoise massif within the French Alps. The peak features steep rocky ridges, glacial formations, and rocky slopes characteristic of this high alpine region.

The peak was shaped by tectonic uplift over millions of years and then carved by glaciers during ice ages. These geological forces created the steep ridges and formations visible today on this alpine summit.

Local shepherds maintain traditional practices around Pointe des Buffettes, utilizing mountain pastures during summer months according to ancient alpine customs.

Climbers typically start their ascent from Le Pont de la Neige and follow marked routes across alpine terrain. The climb demands experience with high altitude conditions and is most feasible during warmer months.

The summit position at the intersection of multiple glacial valleys creates exceptional viewing conditions for observing both sunrise and sunset across the Alps.
