Parc Théodore-Monod, Botanical garden in Le Mans, France.
Parc Théodore-Monod is a 2-hectare botanical garden with diverse plantings and water features. It includes four basins with water lilies, stone waterfalls, and winding pathways connecting different garden zones.
The site once held the Chanzy military barracks, built between 1875 and 1878 and used to house infantry regiments until the 1990s. The barracks were then transformed into this public garden space.
The garden's name honors French naturalist Théodore Monod and his scientific legacy. The entrance pavilions host rotating art exhibitions that complement the natural surroundings.
The garden is open daily starting at 9 AM with seasonal closing times varying by season. Visitors will find children's play areas, restroom facilities, and shaded spots throughout for comfort.
The garden grows about 40 varieties of roses along a covered pergola that creates a pleasant shaded walkway. Water jets throughout the space provide cooling relief for visitors on warm summer days.
