Parc de la Glissoire

Parc de la Glissoire is a recreational park in Avion with six lakes and forest landscapes spread across extensive grounds. A dense network of paths connects different areas and allows exploration of meadows, water features, and natural habitats.

The park was built on the site of former Mine Shaft 5, where coal was extracted. This transformation of industrial land into public recreation space shows the region's shift away from mining activity.

The park serves as a gateway to the Chaine des Parcs project, which transforms the former coal mining region into a large green corridor. Visitors can observe how this place brings nature and community together.

The grounds offer various water-based activities, especially at Lake Three Islets with a swimming beach during the warmer months. Good footwear is helpful since the path network is extensive and crosses different landscapes.

The grounds host a diverse bird community that has settled in different habitats ranging from lakes to forests. This bird population uses water surfaces and trees as habitat and makes wildlife watching an interesting part of a visit.
