Parc Jardins du Monde

Parc Jardins du Monde is a reptile zoo spanning about 7.6 hectares within an urban wetland in Royan, featuring tropical greenhouses, exotic reptiles, and life-size dinosaur replicas distributed throughout the grounds. The facility integrates the natural marsh habitat as a framework for animal encounters and educational displays.

The zoo was established within one of Royan's last remaining urban marshlands and developed into a reptile research and conservation center. The site leveraged the existing wetland environment to create a refuge for threatened species.

The name refers to its original mission as a garden celebrating world flora and fauna through immersive displays. Visitors can observe how tropical habitats are recreated to serve both education and the protection of endangered reptiles.

The park opens daily to visitors with clearly marked pathways through tropical greenhouse areas and animal enclosures. When planning a visit, bring comfortable footwear since the grounds rest on wetland terrain with varying path surfaces.

The park operates specialized breeding facilities and laboratories where snake venom is collected for international medical research. This work, conducted in partnership with Switzerland's HERPETOFAUNA Research Center, contributes to antiserum production.
