Prieuré Notre-Dame et Saint-Étienne de Villiers, Medieval priory in Villeloin-Coulangé, France
The priory buildings are arranged around the former location of a wooden cloister, with dormitories and refectories spread across multiple wings.
Founded in 1162 by Henry II Plantagenet, Count of Touraine and King of England, the priory received its first twelve hermits from the Grandmont order.
The monastery followed specific Grandmontain architectural traditions, incorporating separate spaces for sleeping quarters, dining halls, and kitchen facilities for monks.
The priory, now privately owned by an agricultural company, operates under a long-term lease agreement established in 1980.
The eastern wing maintains a two-level structure with monk dormitories on both floors, preserving the original medieval layout despite numerous modifications.
