Rock of Solutré, Limestone summit in Saône-et-Loire, France.

The Rock of Solutré rises 493 meters above sea level, featuring steep cliffs on its western face and gradual slopes on the eastern side.

Archaeological excavations since 1866 have uncovered numerous flint tools and animal bones, establishing this location as a significant Upper Paleolithic hunting ground.

The Prehistory Museum at the base contains exhibits of ancient hunting scenes and archaeological findings from 55,000 years of human presence.

The circular hiking trail extends 4 kilometers with an elevation gain of 100 meters, requiring approximately one hour to complete the round trip.

From the summit, visitors observe the Saône plain, Mâconnais region, and the Alps with Mont Blanc visible during clear weather conditions.
