Réserve naturelle nationale du Bout du lac d'Annecy

The reserve spans 84.5 hectares at the southern end of Lake Annecy, containing wetlands where the Eau Morte and Ire rivers merge into the lake.

Established by decree on December 26, 1974, the reserve emerged from a conservation movement opposing marina development projects in the early 1970s.

The site maintains educational paths stretching 1.6 kilometers with information panels detailing local species and ecosystems for environmental education purposes.

Visitors can access the reserve throughout the year under favorable weather conditions, with guided tours lasting three hours and independent visits taking ninety minutes.

The reserve contains underwater plant beds that support fish populations and reed areas where numerous bird species nest, including reed buntings and warblers.
