Square Jean-Cocteau, Urban park in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, France

Square Jean-Cocteau is a small urban park in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, with entrances on Avenue Félix Faure, Rue Modigliani, and Rue Saint-Charles. It has grassy areas, rows of cherry trees and Judas trees, wooden benches, and a small playground for children.

The park was created in 1983 on land that had previously been occupied by Citroën factory buildings, which closed as the neighborhood shifted away from industry. The nearby Rue Modigliani, named after the painter Amedeo Modigliani, was laid out shortly before the park was established.

The square is named after Jean Cocteau, a French artist who wrote poems, novels, plays, and made films. His name appears on a sign near the entrance, connecting the everyday life of the neighborhood to one of France's most creative figures of the 20th century.

The park can be reached from several surrounding streets, and the Lourmel metro station on line 8 is a short walk away. It is open every day and works well for a short visit at any time, whether in the morning before the crowds or late in the afternoon.

The fountain near the Rue Saint-Charles entrance, known as the Fontaine des Polypores or Fontaine Modigliani, was created by sculptor Jean-Yves Lechevallier and resembles strange mushroom-like shapes growing out of trees. It is one of the more unusual pieces of public art in this part of the city.
