Square de la Roquette, Urban park in 11th arrondissement, France.
Square de la Roquette is an urban park covering about 1.8 hectares with multiple pathways, open green spaces, and planted gardens. The grounds include different sections with both lawn areas and zones with trees and shrubs.
This land was once the site of the La Petite Roquette prison, which was demolished in 1975. Two original guard houses at the entrance remain as reminders of that past.
The name comes from wild rocket plants that once grew among stones of the former convent here. Visitors can still sense this heritage in the quieter corners of the grounds.
The park is easily reached by Metro from several stations: line 9 at Voltaire, line 2 at Philippe Auguste, or lines 2 and 3 at Père Lachaise. Multiple entrances allow convenient access from different directions.
The park is divided into six distinct areas, some designed specifically for children and teenagers. A petanque court near the main entrance lets visitors watch or play this classic French game.
