Tour de Drince, Observation tower in Rombas, France.
Tour de Drince is a metal observation tower located in the Lorraine region at 390 meters altitude. The structure contains eleven levels, each with eleven steps, providing access to multiple viewing platforms.
The original wooden tower was built in 1907 but was destroyed in 1914 during World War I. The current steel structure was rebuilt in 1932 after the war ended.
The tower reflects the mining heritage of the region, built by local hiking clubs using materials from nearby sources. Visitors sense this connection to the area's industrial past while enjoying the views around them.
The tower is accessible via several hiking trails, including the well-known GR5 long-distance path. A parking area at the base provides convenient access for visitors arriving by car.
From the highest platform, visitors can see over 80 kilometers across landscapes in France, Luxembourg, Belgium, and the Ardennes on clear days. This far-reaching view allows visitors to observe multiple countries and their different landscapes from a single location.
