Zoo d'Amnéville, Animal park in Amnéville, France
Zoo d'Amnéville is an animal park in Amnéville, France, spreading across eighteen hectares of enclosed habitats with dense vegetation and water features. The site divides into several zones where primates, large cats, birds, and African ungulates live in environments modeled after their natural ranges.
Michel Louis opened the park in nineteen eighty-six on former industrial land left vacant after the decline of the regional steel industry. The facility grew steadily over three decades and changed ownership in twenty twenty.
The park was conceived as a space where people could observe animals without visible bars or cages. It serves as an educational resource, helping children and adults learn how different species behave in recreated habitats.
Pathways wind through shaded areas and open stretches, with some uphill sections that can feel tiring in warm weather. A full visit takes about three to four hours, depending on how much time you spend at each enclosure.
The African plain lets giraffes, zebras, ostriches, Lechwe antelopes, and crowned cranes roam freely across a large shared space. Visitors can watch from the edge as the animals interact and share the ground.
