Comet, Steel roller coaster at Walygator Grand Est, Maizières-les-Metz, France

Comet is a steel roller coaster at Walygator Grand Est that stretches across 590 meters of track with a vertical loop, double corkscrew, and helix element painted in orange with blue support structures. Each train holds 28 riders across seven cars with two seats per row for a complete ride experience.

Comet opened on 9 May 1989 as Comet Space, together with the park then called Big Bang Schtroumpf, in the Metal Planet area later renamed Space World. The name Astron was at one point considered. When the park became Walygator Parc in 2007, the coaster was renamed Waly Coaster in 2008 and repainted. It took the name Comet in 2014.

The ride opened on 9 May 1989 as Comet Space, in the Metal Planet area now called Space World. Its name was briefly planned as Astron. Two chimneys from the old Hagondange rolling mills stood in the centre of the helix as a tribute to the steel industry until their removal in 2013.

The station sits in the Space World area of Walygator Grand Est in Maizières-lès-Metz. The train has seven cars with two rows of two seats each, secured by over-the-shoulder harnesses, so 28 riders board per departure. The layout runs from the chain lift into a vertical loop, a double corkscrew and a helix before the final brakes.

At its 1989 opening, Comet was the only Hurricane model built by Vekoma; a second was built in 1996 for Six Flags Fiesta Texas, moved to Six Flags New Orleans in 2003 and closed after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, leaving Comet the sole survivor.
