Timber Drop, Steel roller coaster in Jeanménil, France
Timber Drop is a steel roller coaster in the Fraispertuis City amusement park that spans 420 meters and rises 30 meters high. The ride travels through a forest-themed setting with tree stumps and log decorations, completing its journey in roughly 80 seconds.
Fraispertuis City signed the purchase of Timber Drop, an S&S El Loco model, at the Euro Attractions Show in Rome on 8 October 2010. The coaster was inaugurated on 1 July 2011 and opened to the public the next day. Its 113.1° drop made it the world's steepest until Takabisha (121°) opened at Fuji-Q Highland on 16 July 2011; it remains Europe's steepest. The 4 million euro investment was the park's largest since its creation.
The redwood theme was built by Atelier Artistique du Béton on a decoration budget of over one million euros. Riders pass through several sequoia stumps during the run, and cut logs are placed around the ride. The trains also cross the same trunk twice, once on the 113.1° drop and again near the end.
Timber Drop stands in Fraispertuis City at Jeanménil. The train leaves the station, turns right through a redwood stump, climbs to 30 metres, then drops at 113.1° inside a trunk; two brake runs and a heartline roll follow. Riders must meet the park's height and health rules for this El Loco model.
For every 500 riders on Timber Drop, Fraispertuis City donates funds to plant one tree in Benin through the Trees for Life association.
