Jaulny Viaduct, pont français
The Jaulny Viaduct is a reinforced concrete railway bridge that stretches across the Rupt de Mad valley for 480 meters at a height of about 50 meters (164 feet). The structure features a box girder design supported by six sturdy pillars spaced approximately 80 meters apart, creating a balanced and clean appearance.
The viaduct was built as part of the high-speed LGV Est railway line and opened for service in June 2007 to carry trains across the Rupt de Mad valley. Architects Fabrice Neel and Brigit de Kosmi designed the structure to blend with its natural surroundings while efficiently supporting rail traffic.
The viaduct bears the name of the nearby village of Jaulny and represents a modern addition to the region's identity. Visitors notice how the structure has become a quiet landmark that people recognize when traveling through the area.
The best views of the viaduct are from the valley or surrounding areas, as the structure itself is not open to pedestrian access. The location is in a rural setting and easily accessible from Thiaucourt-Regniéville.
