Viaduc de la Bresle, bridge in France
The viaduc de la Bresle is a 755-meter-long concrete bridge in Normandy that rises approximately 40 meters above the river valley. The structure carries two lanes of traffic and spans the Bresle river to connect different parts of the region.
Construction of the viaduct was completed in 2004 and traffic began in early 2005. The project was designed to link Normandy with Hauts-de-France by carrying the A29 highway across the valley.
The bridge is easily accessed via the A29 highway and offers views of the surrounding countryside while crossing. Limited services exist near the structure, so it is better to plan stops at designated rest areas along the motorway.
The bridge was built using a special pushing technique in which large prefabricated concrete sections were shifted into place. The marshy ground beneath required deep pilings that extend up to 33 meters underground to provide stable support.
