Château de Beaucamps-le-Jeune

Château de Beaucamps-le-Jeune is a castle built around a square courtyard surrounded by residential wings with corner towers and a main gate dating to the 16th century. The layout follows this classic arrangement, forming the structure of a fortified residence from that period.

Construction of the current castle began in 1537 under Anne de Pisseleu, a favorite of King Francis I, and was completed in 1578. This period of more than four decades reflects the lengthy effort required to build such a large residence.

The castle displays ornate woodwork and stucco decorations from the 19th century that show how architectural styles changed over time. Visitors can see these embellishments throughout the interior and notice how residents shaped the spaces where they lived.

The estate is particularly open to visitors during July and August, when equestrian events and cultural exhibitions take place. Visitors should check the opening times beforehand, as access depends on these activities.

The castle underwent a comprehensive restoration beginning in 2005, funded by Mission Patrimoine and heritage foundations. This restoration work saved the building from decline and opened it to visitors once again.
