Église Notre-Dame

Église Notre-Dame is a church in central Cholet featuring two white spires approximately 65 meters tall that dominate the skyline. The building contains four bells, including a large bourdon, and an interior decorated with paintings and sculptural elements.

A small chapel from the 11th century once stood on this site and gradually developed into a parish church over the centuries. The current structure was completely rebuilt between 1814 and 1820 following the demolition of the earlier building.

The building's interior displays works created by artists from the region, contributing to the character of the sacred space. These artistic elements reflect how the community has invested in adorning its house of worship.

The church sits in the town center and its tall spires make it easy to spot from different parts of Cholet. Walking through the streets of the town provides the most direct access, and the location is served by regular public transportation routes.

Visitors can spot small black letters carved into the exterior walls, marking the initials of the stonemasons who worked on the 19th-century reconstruction. These marks served as a way to document each craftsman's contribution to the project.
