Église Notre-Dame de Montferrand, Medieval Gothic church in Montferrand district, Clermont-Ferrand, France.

Église Notre-Dame de Montferrand is a church built in the Meridional Gothic style in the Montferrand district of Clermont-Ferrand. The structure features a single nave ending in a three-sided apse, side chapels along its length, and a bell tower that still stands today.

Construction began in 1340 when residents requested a parish church in the city center during the Hundred Years War. The building developed over centuries according to the Meridional Gothic style and reflects the religious needs of that era.

The name refers to prosperity and hope that medieval residents connected with this place of worship. Visitors can still see religious furnishings and objects gathered from demolished sanctuaries brought here over time.

The church sits within walking distance of downtown and is easy to reach on foot from the main streets. Be aware that interior access may be limited during religious services and celebrations.

A clock was carved directly into the stone bell tower during the 16th century and remains visible today. This remarkable stonework demonstrates how craftsmen of that period could inscribe functional time-keeping directly into the tower's surface.
