Église Saint-Vivien de Rouen is a Gothic church with a massive bell tower, two 14th-century naves extended into a three-nave hall church, and a fourth shorter nave added in the early 16th century. The main vessel was raised with a wooden, windowed storey in the 17th century, and the present brick-and-plaster vault dates from 1855. The west facade has a clock, a large traceried window and a red double door.

A chapel existed here by the early 13th century, founded by and under the patronage of the Abbey of Saint-Ouen. In 1230 Saint-Vivien became an intra-muros parish, and it served as the abbey church after Saint-Ouen burned in 1255. The Gothic church was rebuilt and consecrated on 24 May 1358 by the Bishop of Avranches; it was enlarged into the 16th century and listed as a monument historique on 21 March 1932.

The church is the only one in Normandy dedicated to Saint Vivien, whose relics were brought to Rouen in 1459. On the north wall along rue Saint-Vivien, visitors can still see the remains of the Saint-Vivien fountain and a turning box where abandoned babies were left. The organ, built by Hubert Kriescher, was inaugurated on 28 June 1898 by Alexandre Guilmant; its first organist was the twelve-year-old Marcel Dupré.

The church stands on rue Saint-Vivien in the Saint-Marc–Croix de Pierre–Saint-Nicaise district, east of the historic centre. The 1880 extension of rue Armand-Carrel cleared the houses around it and created the parvis in front of the facade.
