Étang de l'Épinoche, Protected natural area in Montesson, France.

The Étang de l'Épinoche is a wetland in the Montesson Loop that spans about 6 hectares and consists of open water and extensive reed beds. The site sits within a larger protected park and provides different habitats for wildlife and plants.

The site was designated as a protected area in the 1980s after conservationists recognized its importance for migrating and nesting birds. Since its protection began, the area has become known for scientific observation and study.

This site draws ornithologists and nature enthusiasts who come to watch birds and study local wildlife. The reed beds and open water create spaces where people engage with nature and observe seasonal changes.

The best way to explore this place is to walk slowly along the paths that follow the water and offer different viewing points. Visitors should aim for early mornings or late afternoons when bird activity is strongest.

The site has become a refuge for rare bird species that are seldom found elsewhere in the Île-de-France region. These species use the different water and reed habitats to nest and rest during their travels.

A protected area not far from the banks of the Seine. You can admire many species of birds there. Once a year, a large cross-country race takes place that brings together young people from nearby cities.
