Étang du Puits

Étang du Puits is an artificial lake in the Sologne region that spans 180 hectares across the Cher and Loiret departments. The water reaches depths of up to 10 meters in places and features several fishing areas alongside water sports opportunities.

The lake was built in the 19th century to supply water to the Sauldre Canal and is now the largest body of water in the Sologne region. Its original purpose as an engineering project transformed it into a major site for recreation and wildlife observation.

The lake is home to the Central Sailing Club, which offers water activities and maintains local traditions throughout the year. You can see how people connect with the water through everyday pursuits and seasonal rhythms.
