Église du Sacré-Cœur de Bordeaux

The Église du Sacré-Cœur is a Neo-Gothic church with two 70-meter towers topped by domes and a central entrance portal. Inside, the space is defined by tall columns, ribbed vaults, and a nave that rises about 21 meters overhead.

Construction started in 1877 under architect Jean-Jules Mondet with support from Cardinal Donnet, and the church opened for worship in 1883. The project arose to serve the expanding population in the Saint-Jean Belcier neighborhood.

The church was built as an expression of faith by the local community following the Franco-Prussian War. Today, you can feel how the space continues to serve as a place where people gather to pray and find moments of reflection.

The church is located on rue Lefol and is generally open to visitors on most days. You can find information at the entrance and explore the interior at your own pace to appreciate the architecture.

Since 2014, priests from the Regnum Christi movement have overseen the parish and maintain continuous adoration of the Blessed Sacrament throughout the day. This ongoing spiritual practice gives the place a distinctive character that visitors often notice.
