Église du Sacré-Cœur de Lille, Gothic Revival church in Lille, France
The Église du Sacré-Cœur extends 90 meters in length, 24 meters in width, and features an ambulatory surrounding the choir section of the building.
Construction of the church began in 1898 under architect Jules Batigny, replacing an earlier Jesuit chapel from 1610 that was destroyed by fire in 1740.
The church interior displays numerous architectural elements of the Gothic Revival period, including pointed arches, ribbed vaults, and detailed stone carvings.
Located at 57 Rue Solférino in Lille, the church opens Wednesday through Saturday from 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM and Sunday from 10:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
Three rows of openings in the transept create distinct lighting patterns throughout the day, illuminating the architectural features of the interior space.
