Musée du cristal

The building stands on the foundations of a 19th-century glass furnace that once supported local production. The collection documents over 400 years of craftsmanship, showing how techniques and styles shifted across that extended period.

The name refers to the crystal-clear quality of glass produced here, a tradition maintained by local craftspeople over many generations. Visitors notice how much the artisans value precision and purity in their work throughout the collection.

The museum occupies a former workshop setting, giving visitors an authentic feel for the surroundings where the craft took place. It helps to allow time to explore the different collection areas and understand the various techniques on display.

Hanging in the atrium is a large chandelier composed of about 1780 crystal pieces with 120 burning lights, an impressive work created specifically for this space. The ensemble displays the highest level of craftsmanship and often creates the first impression visitors receive upon entering.
