Château de Valmate

Château de Valmate is a residence built in 19th-century style with brick facades and slate roofs. A chapel with Renaissance features stands on the grounds, along with stables and a guardian house.

An engineer named Jean-Baptiste Mignon purchased the estate in 1858, which was formerly called Siriex, and had the current castle built. The structure was registered as a historical monument in 1996 for protection.

The castle shapes the village through its architecture and the regular visits that happen during Heritage Days. The chapel within the grounds attracts those interested in 19th-century religious design.

The castle welcomes visitors during annual Heritage Days and offers spaces for events. The park and buildings are most easily accessed when official visiting days take place.

The park contains a large natural protected area with caves inhabited by bat colonies. These underground habitats make the location a refuge for rare bat species in the region.
