Mützig

Mützig is a brewery complex in Mutzig with multiple industrial buildings dating from the 1800s that show typical architecture of that era. The site includes production spaces and administrative buildings that reveal how a large brewing operation was organized and managed.

Antoine Wagner started this brewery in 1810 as a small operation that grew into a major facility over several generations under family ownership. Production stopped in 1989 after Heineken took over through Alsacienne de Brasserie.

The brewery buildings show how Alsatian beer-making skills developed over time, mixing traditional construction with modern production methods of the 1800s. Visitors can still see this blend of local craftsmanship and industrial innovation in the surviving structures.

The site is now partly used as the Tremplin Entreprises business center located on Rue Antoine Wagner. Check in advance which parts of the complex are open to visitors, as not all areas may be freely accessible.

The brewery operated continuously for nearly 180 years, making it one of the longest-running production facilities in the region. This long operational span reveals how stable and successful the family business remained across generations.
