Château de Latsaga, Medieval castle in Ostabat-Asme, France
The limestone structure features arrow slits, medieval windows, and thick fortress walls situated at the crossroads of Saint Jacques de Compostelle routes.
Built in the 13th century for Bernard de Laxague, the castle expanded in the 14th century under Pes de Laxague who served Charles II of Navarre.
The castle represents the regional gascon architectural style and stands as one of only two examples of this design in Basse-Navarre.
The castle grounds now function as an equestrian farm, offering horseback riding activities from Tuesday to Saturday between January and November.
Archaeological excavations in 2001 and 2002 revealed the original layout of the castle, which includes a preserved north tower and guardroom elements.
