Colagne viaduct

The Colagne viaduct is a road bridge that spans approximately 663 meters across a deep valley in southern France. The structure rises to about 180 meters above the ground with a roadway about 19 meters wide, supported by massive concrete pillars.

The structure was completed in 2006 and marked a major step forward in connecting remote areas of the region. Its construction required significant engineering work to bridge the steep valley and create a safe passage for vehicles.

The crossing serves as a vital link for locals traveling between the two settlements on either side of the valley. It has transformed how people move through this mountainous region and made daily commuting more practical for residents.

The bridge carries regular traffic between the two villages and is accessible from the regional roads on both sides of the valley. Crossing on foot is possible but the structure is primarily designed for vehicles moving between the two communities.

The structure has become a reference point for civil engineering studies due to its innovative design and construction techniques. Its sheer scale makes it an impressive sight when driving through the region, even though it may not be widely known outside the area.
